Race Day FAQs
When is the In Person Turkey Trot 5k?
The race will be on Thanksgiving morning (November 26) at 8:30am.
Where is the race?
The race starts at the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church (700 N 16th Street, Sunnyside WA 98944) and weaves throughout the surrounding schools.
Is an in person race allowed during COVID-19?
Yes! We will be following the race guidance for counties in Phase 2 that has been published by the state. If you are uncomfortable participating with us on Thanksgiving morning, please feel free to participate in our virtual race!
What precautions are being implemented?
Instead of having a mass start, we will start the race in waves - 10 racers every minute with the fastest racers going first. Racers are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering while waiting for their wave to start. Our race day volunteers will wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
Can I do same day registration?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept in person registrations on Thanksgiving. The online registration forms will be open until the last minute to enable people to register without gathering in large groups.
How is the race being timed?
Great question! Each participant who wants to be timed will need to use the Webscorer app and perform self timing by scanning QR codes at the start and finish line.
Will there be awards for the in person race?
Those wanting to compete for a prize will need to participate at SCCC on Thanksgiving morning using the Webscorer app. Since we will be starting in waves, the winner will be announced on social media and contacted when the race has finished.
Who gets an award?
The first, second, and third finishers from the men, women, and children's category will receive a prize.
How do I get my packet?
Packets will be available to be picked at SCCC. We will follow social distancing requirements.
